Cloud and quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization algorithm for economic load dispatch of power system

Abstract

In order to solve nonlinear, non-concex and non-differentiable economic load dispatch (ELD) problem of power system, a cloud and quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization (CQPSO) algorithm is proposed. In CQPSO algorithm, particles are divided into two groups which are optimized by cloud-based evolutionary algorithm (CBEA) and quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization (QPSO) algorithm respectively. Each particle is dynamic adjusted its group through the fitness value comparisons in every iteration. When evolutionary stagnation is detected, chaos algorithm is introduced to optimize all particles. CQPSO and other typical algorithms are applied to ELD problem of three units system, and CQPSO obtains better results than other algorithms, and this manifests the proposed approach is effective and advanced.
